Borat's on-screen daughter unveiled as 24-year-old Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova

Sacha Baron Cohen 's on-screen daughter Tutar in the forthcoming Borat film has been unveiled as actress Maria Bakalova.

The stunning Bulgarian star, 24, this week made headlines over a controversial scene with Donald Trump 's lawyer Rudy Giuliani.

The scene shows Giuliani reportedly putting his hand down his trousers – though he has vehemently denied doing anything “inappropriate” with Maria's 15-year-old character.

During a fake interview, a 24-year-old actress playing Borat’s daughter poses as a TV news reporter in order to get close to Giuliani.

She is then seen flirting with the attorney in a hotel suite.

As Trump’s adviser reclines on a bed, tucking his shirt deep into his trousers, Borat runs in wearing lingerie and screaming: “She’s 15! She’s too old for you!”

Giuliani later spoke out about the scene, telling WABC radio: "I was fully clothed at all times," and told a reporter he was merely tucking in his shirt.

He added: "I lean back and I tuck my shirt in and at that point they have this picture that they take, which looks doctored by in any event."

Maria was since praised for her performance as the satirical character.

Her character in the film joins Borat on his travels around America, as they pull a series of hilarious stunts on members of the public.

The film - which is set to be released on Amazon Prime on Friday - is actually one of Maria's first major English-language films.

The actress - who was born in Burgas, Bulgaria - grew up learning music, taking singing and flute lessons from the age of six.

She then discovered a deep passion for acting and enrolled in a drama/theatre school at the National School of Arts in Burgas, and later at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia.

She graduated last year, according to her IMDB page.

Though new to the acting scene, Maria's social media shows her to be an avid human rights supporter, taking part in the ongoing Black Lives Matter movement.

Before bagging a role in the forthcoming Borat film, Maria's resume stretches across Bulgaria, as well as Italy.

She's starred on several Bulgarian TV shows and films including Tipichno and Last Call.

More recently, she appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote her latest movie with Sacha ahead of the release.

Borat 2 will be exclusively available to watch on Amazon Prime from 23 October.
