Boozed-up mum frightened neighbours and abused cops

An out-of-control mum frightened her neighbours when she booted their door and abused cops in a drunken rampage.

Debbie McLellan, 35, lost the plot with her friends when she repeatedly kicked a door at a property in Rannoch Drive, Renfrew.

Paisley Sheriff Court heard the occupants were so alarmed at McLellan’s behaviour that they called police late on the afternoon of February 25, this year.

When cops responded to the complaint, she began swearing abuse at them in the street and continued her tirade even after she was arrested, and placed in a patrol car.

Procurator fiscal depute Andrew Brown said: “Witnesses Gray and McFadyen were at their home address when the accused attended at the property under the influence of alcohol.

“The accused was shouting and swearing and she began kicking the door.

“The witnesses were fearful and contacted police.

“When police arrived they observed the accused McLennan outside the property.

“She was spoken to by police and began moving away. When officers stopped her she became instantly abusive.

“She was shouting, ‘f*** off,’ ‘get tae f***,’ and ‘f*** you.’”

The court heard when cops warned her about her conduct and approached her, she tried to ignore them and walk away.

The fiscal added: “One officer took hold of her arm, but her behaviour continued to deteriorate, and she continued shouting at police.

“She shouted, ‘Get your f****** hands off me,’ ‘Get tae f***,’ and ‘I will f****** kill you.’

“When informed she was under arrest, she began pulling away from officers.”

When placed in the back of police car, McLellan continued to shower cops with abuse calling them “f****** p*****.”

Yesterday she pleaded guilty to charges of public disorder in that she behaved aggressively, shouted, swore and repeatedly kicked a door.

She also admitted shouting, swearing, behaving aggressively and struggling with police officers in the execution of their duty.

Defence agent James Arrol said his client, is a mum-of-one, who took to the drink after her father was swindled out of his house, by other family members.

He said: “She gave up her job to look after her father. “Issues with caring for him caused her difficulties with alcohol.

“She remembers very little about the incident and remembers very little about being in the police station.

“She was tearful and apologetic because of her behaviour and has pleaded guilty.”

He added the complainers are her childhood friends and there had been a “disagreement,” but there are “no hard feelings,” following the incident.

The court heard she also spent her own cash on attending a detox programme so she could dry out properly.

Sheriff Lindsey Kooner showed leniency to her, telling her: “You paid privately for your rehabilitation and are focusing on your recovery.

“I am going to defer sentencing you for six months for you to be of good behaviour.

“Monitor your behaviour to ensure nothing like this happens again.”

McLellan will appear back at court on December 23 for a review of her conduct.
