Boots shoppers furious after Advantage card points 'WIPED' as huge shake-up revealed

Boots shoppers have been left furious after claiming their Advantage Card points have been wiped - but the pharmacy chain says it is down to a technical glitch.

Customers have taken to Twitter to complain to the beauty retailer, claiming their loyalty points balance now shows zero.

It comes after Boots started emailing shoppers about a change to its Advantage Card scheme.

As of June 20, 2022, you’ll lose all your Advantage points if you haven’t used your card in over a year. At the moment, your points get wiped after two years.

While you don't need to spend your points, you do need to shop with Boots and scan your card.

The email to customers reads: "Thank you for being one of our valued Boots Advantage Card members.

"Whilst it won’t impact you as a regular Boots shopper, we need to let you know that we’re updating our Boots Advantage Card terms and conditions.

"From 20th June 2022, we will remove Boots Advantage Card points from accounts that haven’t been used* for one year, instead of the current two-year period.

"As long as you shop with your Boots Advantage Card at least once a year, your points will always be there ready for you to use them."

But some shoppers took to Twitter today to claim their points had already been removed from their account.

One person said: “Thanks for the warning about this. I had almost £30 on my Advantage card and when I checked after this email I now have ZERO.”

Another said: “They wiped mine, I had near £30 on it and I’m sure as hell I didn’t get a warning email about the two year wipe either… Won’t be shopping there now.”

A Boots spokesperson told The Mirror they believe this is down to a technical fault where points balances aren’t showing as they would usually.

Customers’ points balances should show up as normal when they refresh the page, said Boots.

If you’re still having trouble seeing your points, contact Boots’ Advantage Card team on 0345 124 4545.

Boots’ spokesperson added: “As long as you shop with your Boots Advantage Card at least once a year, your points will always be there ready for you to use them.”

Advantage members earn four rewards points for every £1 they spend in-store and online.

The points are then worth 1p each in return when you convert them to spend in stores.

This means if you collect 100 points, you’d have £1 to spend, while 1,000 points are worth £10.

You can also get personalised discounts sent to you by Boots by being an Advantage Card holder, as well as special reductions in stores.

It is free to sign up for an Advantage Card - you can do this on the Boots website. Boots says it has around 14.7 million active members.
