Boots shoppers can get extra Advantage Card points under new scheme

Boots and No7 have created a scheme that allows customers to both recycle and and earn extra Advantage Card points.

The initiative, which was announced back in September, asks shoppers to recycle empty health, beauty and wellness products, even those not stocked at Boots.

Since it launched, more than 30,000 customers have signed up with more than one tonne of plastic being recycled, reports The Mirror.

Toothpaste, mascara and hand wash were amongst the top products being deposited.

Shoppers are rewarded with £5 worth of Advantage Card points for every five products recycled.

Customers can sign up to the scheme via Scan2Recycle technology.

The deposited products are sent to Boots recycling partner, ReWorked, where they are formed into items such as reusable storage containers that are used at Boots warehouses.

Commercial Director & VP, Beauty & Gifting at Boots UK, Joanna Rogers, said: "Our customers are more aware than ever before of their impact on the environment and they are taking proactive steps to mitigate this.

"At Boots we are constantly challenging ourselves to do more, and as part of our commitment to becoming a more sustainable business we're super excited to see the impact this scheme has had in such a short period of time."
