Police investigate after car ploughed into Boots store

Raiders have smashed their way into a Bristol chemist overnight.

Thieves smashed their way into Boots at Queens Road, Clifton early today.

The doors to the store have been smashed in and now remain cordoned off.

Blue boxes – believed to contain medicines –can be seen in one of the aisles of the shop with other items strewn across the floor.

The shop is closed for the day while investigations are carried out.

An anonymous witness said: “It looked like the raisers waited for the deliveries in the blue boxes so maybe it happened just after daybreak.

”Looked like they (the staff) were waiting for forensics as the manager was on the phone looking slightly shocked!"

A police spokesman said: "We were called this morning to reports of break-in at a shop in Queens Road, Clifton at about 5.30am

"The front of a pharmacy and health and beauty shop was badly damaged.
