Boots issues two-week warning to everyone with an Advantage Card

A warning to all shoppers has been issued by high street retailer Boots The drugstore says a major change will be taking place in ten days time.

Boots has warned that from June 20, people will have their points instantly wiped if they don't use their card often enough. It's set to be a controversial change.

At the moment, your points get wiped if you haven’t scanned your Advantage Card in two years. But from June 20, you’ll lose your points after just one year.

While you don't need to actually spend your points, you do need to shop with Boots and scan your card. The email to customers, explaining the changes, reads: "Thank you for being one of our valued Boots Advantage Card members.

"Whilst it won’t impact you as a regular Boots shopper, we need to let you know that we’re updating our Boots Advantage Card terms and conditions. From 20th June 2022, we will remove Boots Advantage Card points from accounts that haven’t been used* for one year, instead of the current two-year period.

"As long as you shop with your Boots Advantage Card at least once a year, your points will always be there ready for you to use them."

Advantage members earn four rewards points for every £1 they spend in-store and online. The points are then worth 1p each in return when you convert them to spend in stores.

This means if you collect 100 points, you’d have £1 to spend, while 1,000 points would be worth £10. You can also get personalised discounts sent to you by Boots by being an Advantage Card holder, as well as special reductions in stores.

It is free to sign up for an Advantage Card - you can do this on the Boots website. Boots says it currently has around 14.7 million active members.
