Boots' boss describes friendship with NHS as half a million products donated to keyworkers

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, Boots has been working to ensure frontline staff and key workers have everything they need to take on the crisis.

Boots UK's managing director, Seb James, confirmed the company had donated half a million items to various NHS Trusts, care homes and other key workers.

At the start of lockdown, more than 500 hygiene products and toiletries were gifted by Boots to staff at Queen's Medical Centre to show their appreciation.

In a video posted on the company's Twitter, Seb James said: "Boots has been around for 170 years and in that time, we've seen a lot of crises.

"This is a major national crisis and we're unbelievably proud to be stepping forward as a friend and partner of the NHS and doing a whole range of things to support frontline workers, patients and others up and down the country.

"We've given up to half a million items to a variety of NHS Trusts, care homes and other key workers to make sure that patients and workers have the toiletries and the other vital products that they need.

"We've also put together thousands of patient recovery packs made up of a number of things, usually ten items or so. We've set aside tens of thousands of units of products to be able to support that effort.

"Very proud that Boots is able, as it always has since the birth of the NHS, to be a true friend and partner. That's what we're here to do and that's what we're going to do."
