'Boots £38 Summer skincare box contains £122 of products - the Elemis face cream felt like I'd had a facial'

Since it was released a few weeks ago, Boots' £38 Summer Father's Day skincare box has been incredibly popular. Hundreds of people have already bought one of the Premium Father's Day Skincare boxes- which contain over £122-worth of products, including a £36 moisturiser from Elemis which has been called a 'game-changer'.

The box costs £38 - but contains £122.36-worth of premium skincare products, making for a saving of £84.36 Students with an Advantage Card can save a further 20%, bringing the box price down to £30.40.

There is an impressive range of brands inside the Boots £38 Father's Day Summer Beauty Box, including Elemis, Liz Earle, Boots Patchology, Grown Alchemist, Fenty Skin and REN. But while it all sounds a bit too good to be true - is it? I tried everything inside to find out - here are my top picks.

Elemis Daily Moisture Boost 50ml - £36 on its own

Presented in what looks like a package for an expensive aftershave, the Elemis hydration lotion screams quality and that’s what you get. The moisturiser has been designed to recharge and hydrate your skin after shaving and there was a notable difference.

As a novice I must confess that I am usually content with a splash of cold water and body lotion after shaving. But the cool and refreshing feeling the Elemis hydration lotion gave me was a welcomed change from the usual prickly and itchy sensation that would annoy me hours after a shave in the past - my skin felt like I'd had an expensive facial.

Elemis Daily Moisture Boost (Manchester Evening News)

Elemis Daily Moisture Boost contains a powerful blend of Polynesian Green Tamanu Oil and Cactus Cerus Flower Extract that helps calm skin, whilst Chestnut and Bamboo Milks help to promote the feeling of elasticity and suppleness. Skin is left feeling soothed, nourished and refreshed.

The Elemis Daily Moisture Boost has an average rating of 4.7 out of five on the Boots website, and having tried it myself, I can see why. One woman whose husband uses it wrote: "My husband absolutely loves this!! It keeps his face so moisturized!"

A mum said: "Bought for my son and he says it’s the best he’s ever used." Somebody else whose fiance tried the cream added: "Noticed a difference in my fiancé face within a week Nice radiance to his face. A must buy."

Clinique For Men Charcoal Face Wash

The face wash from cosmetic giants Clinique promises to remove excess oil and dirt by clearing your pores. The Boots Father’s Day skin care gift box comes with a tiny 30ml bottle which is a big shame because the face wash turned out to be a revolutionary product for me. I loved it that much I have already made an order for the larger 200ml bottle which is on sale for £20.00.

The face wash contains natural charcoal that draws out the dirt and excess oil that can clog pores. Its soothing, non-drying lather gently foams away impurities to leave all skin types feeling fresh and comfortable.

For a man who has never used a face wash before, I had no idea what I was missing out on. Refreshing is an understatement, my face felt the softest and cleanest it has felt in years and not just immediately after use but for the rest of the day too.

Hailing the face wash the 'best they'd ever used', one five-star reviewer wrote: "I was advised to buy this charcoal face wash by the Clinique consultant. As they didn't have any of the regular face wash in stock at my local Boots store. I wasn't sure at first as I've used the regular strength face wash for years and the soap before that. But I'm so glad I did, it's fantastic. Easily the best face wash I've ever used from Clinique. My skin glows after using it and it feels so clean, but not stripped or dry. I hope Clinique are going to keep this in the line up of men's products as it's my new favourite and I will definitely buy this charcoal face wash again."

Another agreed with my findings, writing: "This works really well my skin has improved so much since I have started using this product. Much better then any other product I have used."

Patchology FlashPatch Restoring Night Eye Gels Single Pair

The Patchology eye gels are meant to repair the skin under your eye to reduce the dark circles and brighten up your skin making you feel and look youthful the morning after. Instructions for its use is easy, all you have to do is place the product under your eye, leave it in the area for five minutes or so and then remove when done.

I would like to say I saw a huge difference the morning after, but my dark circles were very much still present. There was a distinct difference in how my face felt however, the section where I placed the gels felt notably smoother first thing in the morning however, that didn’t last for too long.

Perhaps I need more rounds of the eye gel therapy which was not possible as the gift box only contained one packet which goes for around £4.00 on the Boots site.

Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Purifying Plastic Free Sheet Mask

To complete my rigorous skin care routine I opted for the tea tree and witch hazel face mask by Boots. Similar to the rest of the products the aim of the game is to leave your skin feeling revitalised by getting rid of all the dirt and build up that has laid dormant on your face.

Perhaps the most time consuming product of the routine, you are required to place the mask evenly on your face for 15 minutes before gently removing. At this point my skin was as soft as a baby's bottom but the face mask was still able to work it's magic and I could feel it digging out the last of the pollution on my face.

Maybe not the most glamorous product in the box, the facemask which is 'activated' with charcoal most certainly did the job and acted like a complimentary top up which my newly minted face appreciated.

Here's everything you get inside Boots' £38 Father's Day box worth almost £120:

- Clinique For Men Charcoal Face Wash 30ml

- Patchology FlashPatch Restoring Night Eye Gels Single Pair 13 g - FULL SIZE

- Grown Alchemist Polishing Facial Exfoliant 75ml - FULL SIZE

- REN Skincare Evercalm™ Gentle Cleansing Gel 50ml

- Liz Earle Mens Shave Cream 100ml - FULL SIZE

- Fenty Skin Fat Water Pore-Refining Toner Serum 10ml

- Elemis Daily Moisture Boost 50ml - FULL SIZE

- Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Purifying Plastic Free Sheet Mask 18g - FULL SIZE

Elsewhere, LookFantastic is selling a more pricey Father's Day Fragrance and Grooming Box for £55 (this includes a fully redeemable digital £55 voucher, so the box pays for itself), while GLOSSYBOX's offering is a £30 Limited Edition Grooming Kit worth £103.

The Premium Father's Day Skincare Box worth £122 is currently £38 on the Boots website.
