A 45-year-old man from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of a kidnap.
Police were called at around 2:45am on Tuesday (July 20) to reports of an incident on London Road in Carlisle.
A woman in her 40s, also from Bootle, was taken to Cumberland Infirmary Carlisle with minor injuries.

The man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, drink driving and kidnap, and has since been released on police bail.
