LUCKNOW: With the aim to benefit farmers, the department of cooperatives has set up 74 godowns with a capacity of 100 tons each. These were inaugurated by minister for cooperatives Mukut Bihari Verma on Thursday.
The godowns have been constructed by the UP State Construction Cooperative Society and State Construction and Labour Development Cooperative Society.
Verma said that with the construction of these godowns, better facilities for storage of grains etc would be provided to farmers. “It will keep the produce safe and help them get a better price for their produce when it is sold at the right time,” he said.
Managing Director of the UP State Construction Cooperative Society Dhirendra Singh said that construction work of various departments in the state were being carried out through 35 construction blocks. He said that in 2019-20, the cooperative did work of Rs 573.31 crore and in 2020-21 it carried out work of Rs 607.96 crore.
