Perth and Kinross golfers have received a boost after hard-working county executive members managed to reschedule a number of competitions.
The golfing calendar was hit hard due to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent shutdown of sport, with many tournaments called off completely.
But, with the support from clubs across the region, P&K County Golf has now introduced a revised schedule littered with events through the month of September.
The Team Championship will tee-up the competition stretch and takes place on Saturday, September 12 at Strathmore.
The following day, Sunday, September 13, the gents, seniors and juniors Strokeplay Championship will welcome a strong field to Dunkeld and Birnam.
Qualifiers from the gents event will then move on to compete in the Gents Matchplay at Muckhart over the weekend of September 19 and 20.
Senior and junior qualifiers will compete in their respective matchplay competitions on Saturday, September 26, both at Auchterarder.
Rounding off the revised calendar is the Stroyan Trophy on Sunday, October 4. Comrie Golf Club is pencilled in to host that event.
“We want to thank the clubs involved for their assistance in being able to make this possible,” said P&K county secretary Alan Cargill.
“All current government and public health guidelines will be followed – along with any specific club requirements and as such these may be subject to change.”
Alan revealed he was quickly inundated with entries for the various competitions.
He told the PA: “It’s good to get something back up and running so we can keep the momentum of Perth and Kinross golf going.
“As soon as the message was put out, the phone started buzzing with entries. There is obviously a desire for this type of competition.”
