Boost for Dumbarton FC as players due back following isolation

Dumbarton boss Stevie Farrell is expecting another tough test, as he prepares to welcome back Sons’ isolating players for the trip to Partick Thistle tonight (Tuesday).

Carlo Pignatiello, Joe McKee, Edin Lynch and Kalvin Orsi have all been in isolation for 10 days - missing Dumbarton’s season opening ties with Stenhousemuir and Dunfermline Athletic.

However they are set to return to the squad for tonight’s game.

Faz said: “The players are good.

“One or two are suffering a wee bit in their chest but that’s just the impact of Covid.

“We’ll take advice from the medical staff but hopefully we can get most of them playing tonight.

“That’s our last game before the league starts so it’s important that we get some gametime in their legs before that.”

Looking ahead to the trip to Firhill after a 5-1 defeat to Dunfermline Athletic, Farrell added: “I’m expecting a similar game to Saturday.

“Partick pass the ball in a very similar way to Dunfermline and play in a similar way in terms of the way they go forward.

“We have players back for the game though and that will definitely help us.

“We’ll freshen things up tonight and get the players who have been isolating for the past 10 days some time on the pitch.”

Kick off at Firhill is 7.45pm, with no away fans allowed at the ground.
