Weather: Met Office's day-by-day forecast for Boomtown as festival set to be wet and windy

Boomtown returns for its eleventh year today (August 7) but festival fans should brace themselves for some wet and windy weather.

The Bristol-organised event is one of the UK’s largest festivals and combines music with theatre, interactive set design, freedom and escapism.

Hosting around 60,000 people, Chapter 10 of Boomtown will be running between August 7 and 11, and will be showcasing a wide array of artists including Ms. Lauryn Hill, The Streets and UB40.

However, with two weather warnings in place this weekend, conditions may not be ideal to say the least.

It was confirmed yesterday the due severe weather conditions just hours before it was due to begin.

Here's a day-by-day forecast for Matterley Estate in Hampshire, where the festival is held:

Wednesday

For the first day of the festival, the weather agency is forecasting sunny intervals changing to cloudy by lunchtime, with highs of 22C.

However, heavy rain is predicted at 5pm before the sunny intervals return around an hour later.

Thursday

It's a similar forecast for Thursday (August 8), with the Met Office predicting sunny intervals changing to cloudy by lunchtime.

Aside from a few light showers from 7pm, most of the day looks dry and warm.

Friday

A for heavy showers and thunderstorms is in place for Friday (August 9).

Heavy showers are forecast from 7am and then light rain from 1pm, which will continue throughout the day.

Heavy showers will resume at around 10pm that night.

Saturday

Another yellow weather warning is in place for Saturday - this time for wind.

Festival-goers can also expect more rain, with light showers expected throughout the day.

There will also be a breakout of heavy showers at around 1pm, according to the Met Office.

Sunday

On the last day of the festival, the Met Office is forecasting sunny intervals changing to cloudy by late morning.

However, light showers are expected from 1pm throughout the afternoon.
