Boom! Ohio State basketball gets commitment from 2021 forward Kalen Etzler

Just a couple days after landing transfer Justin Sueing for 2020-21 season, Chris Holtmann has landed his first recruit of the class of 2021.

Kalen Etzler, who led Crestview High School to the Division IV state championship this past season, gave his verbal commitment to Ohio State on Sunday via Twitter.

Etzler already held scholarship offers from Bowling Green, Duquesne and others.

Although Etzler’s older brother, Javin is committed to Miami (OH), the Buckeyes run through the Etzler family, as their uncle Doug played four years as a Buckeye in the early 1990’s. Somehow though, the nephew got the height genes his uncle never did (Doug Etzler was a 6 foot point guard).

The Buckeyes offered Kalen on Thursday, and 72 hours later, his dream has come true.  A 6-foot-8 forward, Kalen is ranked as the No. 2 player in the state and No. 51 overall in the class of 2021 according to 247Sports
