Boom! Ohio State basketball gets 7 foot big man Ibrahima Diallo

The Ohio State basketball coaching staff will be adding another member to the much ballyhooed 2019 class with the commitment of 7-0 center Ibrahima Diallo out of Prolific Prep in Napa, California.

Diallo announce the commitment on Twitter earlier Sunday after a long process of trying to decide between the Buckeyes and Pittsburgh. He visited several schools but narrowed the list down to a final two with an original timeline of the end of March set.

But as March ended, neither Ohio State or Pittsburgh really knew where they stood — and in fact — the Buckeyes began to look at other options, namely a re-courting of former center Daniel Giddens who left the program after one year under Thad Matta.

Now however, the Buckeyes have a man in the middle to plug in and help with depth. It’s especially welcome news with the realization that current big man Kaleb Wesson is testing the NBA waters. And while it’s still very likely that Wesson comes back to Columbus, adding a seven footer will add a rim protecting presence that was lacking last year in Columbus.

Diallo originally came from the United States from Senegal and is considered a raw talent that will need to develop his game on the offensive end, but you can’t teach height and a wingspan of 7-6.

This commitment might be a little under the radar, but you can bet the coaching staff is pumping fists and giving each other high fives today.
