When I saw this book in Waterstones a couple of months back, it flew off the shelf! I hinted a little to my mum and dad, then was lucky enough to get it for my birthday a couple of weeks later and I was over the moon!
I was reading it all the time: in the car, in bed, on the sofa, in restaurants and cafés, even at the breakfast table. When I finished it, I was sad it was over! I persuaded my sister to read it and she’s glad I did. Here is a brief explanation of why this book is simply amazing.
Jimbo and his best friend Charlie are average kids, until one day they find out something rather unusual about a couple of their teachers. They go on a stupid, insane and suicidal trip to a strange world that may cost the two boys their lives.
Well there you have it, a great book where Haddon gets the right balance of adventure and comedy in one outstanding novel. He has a rare, spellbinding gift for storytelling and I advise everyone reading this review to pick up Boom! and give it a go, your life will be better for it. Haddon will leave you wanting more.
