Spotted an interesting post on The Guardian about 'the unstoppable rise of Greggs the bakers'.
Feature writer Emine Saner met Greggs chief executive Ken McMeikan at Greggs' Leeds plant and visited one of the city's newest stores - and discovered that before long, there could be a Greggs on every British high street.
Does McMeikan not worry about this homogenisation? He says:
"I would, if every Greggs was the same. The managers tend to feel it's their shop and their customers. We don't train everyone to be exactly the same – we have some real characters and we don't try to stamp that out of them. And we allow different parts of the country to keep their regional favourites."
What do you think? Do you work at Greggs - is it a great place to work? Do you think it's a great Leeds icon? Have your say in the comments section below.
