Bookmarked: Fight to reopen South Leeds Sports Centre continues

Residents are continuing their fight to reopen South Leeds Sports centre - despite the facilities closing on 1 November last year.

According to a guest post by Steohen Peacock on the South Leeds Life blog, members of the Splashback campaign met this week to consider their next moves - and have vowed to continue the fight to save the facilities closed by the council following concerns over decresing user numbers and costs.

A local councillor has said a number of options were being considered by the council to bring the centre back into use.

Residents are fighting for the facilities as they say there are no other facilities close by in the Beeston and Holbeck area.

Back in November, a community bid to take over South Leeds Sports Centre failed because of lack of funding.
