'Bookmarked!' - Crystal Palace fans troll Brighton after what Seagulls have done on Twitter

Crystal Palace supporters have been reacting on Twitter to what, at first sight, seems like Brighton & Hove Albion tweeting their appreciation for Wilfried Zaha.

On Wednesday afternoon the official Brighton club account tweeted "Love it Wilf!" with a fire emoji, which was immediately seized upon by droves of Eagles fans making a joke at the Seagulls' expense.

The reason for the tweet was that Brighton were responding to someone named Wilf (@wilfbha), who had shown the club a fan edit he had created of midfielder Enock Mwepu.

After a few hours, Brighton decided that enough was enough, and the tweet was deleted. Despite that, and the post's true meaning, it didn't stop Palace fans from making the most of the opportunity, with some Brighton fans also seeing the funny side of things.

@HunterCPFC said: "This is bookmarked. Thanks" while @cjbearcpfc quote-tweeted and said: "They just didn't think it through."

Elsewhere, @alex_westry said: "Causing Brighton pain since 2011. We all love a Wilf goal against y'all thanks for acknowledging that!" attached with images of Zaha celebrating against the Seagulls.

Plenty of Brighton supporters also recognised their club's faux pas just as quick as the Palace fans, with @BhaHarvey saying: "What have you done" in response to the initial tweet, with some fans calling for the club to delete the tweet, which the Seagulls have since done.

Zaha has a good record against Brighton, scoring eight goals in 14 appearances against the Seagulls in all competitions.

That includes two goals in the Championship play-off semi-final against Brighton at the Amex Stadium in 2013 and goals against the Seagulls in each of the last three matches between the two sides at Selhurst Park, all of which have ended 1-1.
