Bookmakers tipping Phil Parkinson to make managerial return at Port Vale

Former Sunderland manager Phil Parkinson is among the favourites to take over at Port Vale.

Valiants manager John Askey was sacked yesterday, January 4, after accumulating just six points from 12 games. The Vale have fallen out of play-off contention and are now just five points above the relegation zone.

The former Black Cats boss is 12/1 to take over Vale Park according to thesackrace.

Former England international Emile Heskey is the favourite to take over from Askey, who has no managerial experience.

Ex-Black Cats manager, Simon Grayson is another name being linked with the vacant managerial position. He's 6/1 to take over at Port Vale.

Some other names linked with the role are Danny Pugh, David Flitcroft, John McGreal, Robert Page, Graham Alexander and Paul Cook.
