Bookmakers suspended betting on Meghan Markle giving birth to twins after an “abnormal” number of bets were placed.

Odds were slashed from 5/1 to odds-on after a flurry of high stakes bets on the Duchess of Sussex giving birth to twins in the spring.

Paddy Power said it believed it was possible that someone had inside information after a sudden stream of wagers.

Meghan and Prince Harry are expecting their first child in the spring and it was revealed yesterday that they would be moving out of Kensington Palace next month to go and live at Frogmore House on the Windsor estate.

The royal couple, who got married in May, currently live in Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace and are moving because they need more space for their growing family.

At 8/1, Diana is the favourite name for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s firstborn if it is a girl, while Arthur is 12/1 for a boy.

A Paddy Power spokesman said on Friday: “An unprecedented amount of bets on Meghan and Harry to have twins has forced us to stop taking bets on the market altogether this morning.

“Since the day began, the stream of bets has led us to believe that perhaps the punters – or an insider source – knows something more than we do.”
