'Booking my hotel down Wembley' - Newcastle United fans react to potential Oxford United tie

Newcastle United fans have reacted with delight to a potential FA Cup fourth-round tie against Oxford United at St James' Park.

Standing in the way of the fifth round for the Magpies is a third-round replay with Rochdale, and a rematch of the 2017 fourth-round against Oxford.

On that occasion, Rafa Benitez's side were humbled at the Kassam Stadium. Goals from Kane Hemmings, Curtis Nelson and Toni Martinez sealed a comfortable 3-0 victory for the League One side, while a missed penalty from Aleksandar Mitrovic compounded the visitors' misery.

Steve Bruce has made a point of emphasising how he will prioritise progress in the cup competitions following his arrival in the summer. Now, the new head coach has a chance to do something no United manager has achieved in the Mike Ashley era - reaching the fifth round.

But first, the Magpies must see off Rochdale in the third-round replay following a disappointing 1-1 draw at Spotland on Saturday.

The draw prompted huge reaction on social media from United fans, with many believing this is a golden opportunity for the club to finally be in the FA Cup draw come February.

Here's the best reactions to the draw and a potential fourth-round tie with Oxford United:

'We will bottle it'

'Booking my hotel down Wembley'

'Lovely little opportunity'

'We never will'

'Cracking draw'

'Que sera, sera'

'Good draw that for Rochdale'

Joelinton's Wembley winner

'Wemberlee'
