Bookies see flurry of bets for Theresa May to join Strictly Come Dancing

As one door closes, another opens.

Leading bookmaker Coral has seen a rush of bets for Theresa May to appear on the 2019 series of Strictly Come Dancing later this year where they have slashed their odds into 5-1 (from 10-1).

The former Prime Minister is 100-1 to win the show.

May is also 12-1 with Coral to be on ITV reality series I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here in 2019.

Coral's John Hill said: "Theresa May is going to have a lot of time on her hands now she is leaving the most high profile job in the country and some punters feel as though she will turn to the dance floor on Strictly later this year.'

He added: "It is unclear how much experience May has in dancing but Ed Balls has a good run on the show so she could outperform her odds of 100-1 if she does appear."

May is expected to remain in Parliament as a backbench MP following the rise of Boris Johnson to the office of Prime Minister on July 24, 2019.

It was recently revealed that South African dancing queen Motsi Mabuse, sister of professional dancer Oti, will replace Dame Darcey Bussell as a judge on the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Bruno Tonlioli, Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas are all expected to return as fellow judges.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One in September 2019.
