Bookies' latest odds on whether Leeds will have a White Christmas

Bookies have revealed their odds on it being a White Christmas for Leeds this year.

The first snow of the winter fell on Friday, December 4, as a flurry of arctic weather hit the city throughout the morning.

Bookmakers are already looking ahead a few weeks though and have released their odds on whether we'll wake up to a light dusting of snow on December 25.

The latest odds show that Leeds is more likely to see snow on Christmas Day than Manchester, Liverpool, London or Birmingham.

It has been a while since Leeds was covered in snow for the big day, but odds are as low as 6/1 on a blizzard blanketing the ground as Father Christmas arrives.

The odds, collated by olbg.com, show that Leeds is more likely to see snow than Birmingham (7/1), London (8/1), Manchester (9/1) or Liverpool (10/1).

A spokesperson for olbg.com said: "Leeds/Bradford Airport is currently the shortest-priced in the Paddy Power White Christmas betting market for England at 6/1."

The data is taken from the Met Office, who reported that snow has fallen in the UK in 38 of the last 54 years.

The predictions are for snowfall at major airports. As Leeds Bradford Airport is almost 700 feet above sea level, it holds the title as England's highest airport and it is therefore perhaps not too surprising that Leeds is the most likely major city in England to see snow on Christmas Day.

At least 1mm of snow must be recorded on the ground at the airport, and punter’s payouts are the discretion of the bookmaker, depending on their terms and conditions.

It is advised that festive punters read the market’s terms and conditions at their preferred online bookie in full before parting with any cash.
