Glasgow is a close second, with 9/2 odds meaning there's a 18.2% chance of snow in Glasgow on Christmas Day.

But will Liverpool see any of the white stuff?

How likely is a White Christmas?

While snow is most common in the UK and Ireland between the months of January and March, punters still line up every year to take a festive bet on the location most likely to get the most wintry weather.

The vast majority of bookmakers use weather stations at airports as their source of measurement, which allows for a more balanced contest across the market.

According to Met Office statistics, snow has fallen somewhere in the UK on Christmas day 38 times since 1965.

In Ireland, there has been a White Christmas roughly every six years since 1941. Surprisingly, Ireland didn't get to enjoy a White Christmas in 2010, which was the last widespread White Christmas in the UK.

Met Office 10-day trend: Snow on the way, but where?

Liverpool least likely to get snow

If a snowball fight on Christmas Day is your idea of heaven, there's bad news for us in Liverpool.

Bookmakers have marked Liverpool at 10/1, representing a 9.1% probability of snow on Christmas Day.

Manchester isn't far behind, with 9/1 odds representing a 10% probability of snow.

How Does a City Qualify for a Bookie's White Christmas?

Bookmakers take their measurements for a White Christmas from the main airport in the location offered, so Liverpool Airport for Liverpool, and Belfast Airport for Belfast, etc.

But how much snow counts as a White Christmas? There needs to be at least 1mm of snowfall recorded on the ground of the airport.

It's important to note that punter's payouts are at the discretion of the bookmaker, so make sure you've read the market's terms and conditions before parting with your cash.
