Bookies deliver verdict on Newcastle United's chances of Premier League survival

Newcastle United are expected to stave off the threat of relegation again this season under Steve Bruce - according to the bookmakers.

The Magpies face Chelsea on Monday night as they look keep a healthy gap between themselves and newly promoted Fulham but they slipped to fourth bottom over the weekend despite not playing.

The majority of bookies are convinced that it will be West Brom that finish the season rock bottom with talk that Sam Allardyce is encountering problems at the Hawthorns.

Bet Fair, Bet Fred and SBK have the Baggies at a price of 1/20 to go down and finish bottom while Bet 365 see them as 1/33 shots.

Unsurprisingly, Sheff United are next at 1/12 with Paddy Power and Bet Fair before Fulham follow as the team bookies see as the favourites to finish third bottom with prices of 1/4 with Bet Fred and Bet Fair.

Newcastle's odds have shortened but they are priced at 3/1 with Paddy Power and Bet Fred while Bet Fair see them as 16/5 shots to go down.

Burnley are 8/1 with Paddy Power with Brighton 16/1 with Bet Fair.

Once under fire Leeds United have now drifted out as far as 125/1 to go down with a clutch of bookmakers.

Crystal Palace (28/1 with Bet Fred) and Southampton (75/1 with Bet Fair) are not deemed serious candidates to be sucked into the battle despite some spluttering form.

Although, the Saints are currently rock bottom of the form table with five straight defeats.
