There could be a new boyband in town as the odds are on Irish heartthrobs Dermot Kennedy and Paul Mescal to top the charts together.
As the lads prepare for their ‘one-off’ live-stream performance together later this month, odds are now on the duo to reach number one by the end of the year.
Paul, who leaped to success in Normal People earlier this summer, became both a household name and Ireland’s most eligible bachelor overnight.
But his talents and expectations didn’t end there, as the Maynooth man went on to surprise fans with his musical ability too.
Now joining forced with All My Friends hitmaker Kennedy, bookies are favouring the pair reach number one in the Irish charts this year, with odds at 2/1.
And adding fuel to the flames after being pictured on a meet up in Paul’s native Kildare this week, they’re 10/1 to be Christmas number one.
Meanwhile, 24-year-old breakout star Mescal has has been chalked up at 8/1 to release his own album by the end of 2021.
Nicola McGeady of Ladbrokes said: “Fans are going to go wild for this performance, and we think it could really take off judging by the interest we’ve seen so far.
“At odds of 2/1, a number one hit could be on the cards.”
The new showbiz pals will play an exclusive gig at London’s Natural History Museum, showing globally on July 30.
The event, titled Some Summer Night in reference to his hit All My Friends will be broadcast via YouTube and will feature Dermot’s full band as well as additional special appearances.
