From 'The Lord of the Rings' to 'Harry Potter', many books have been adapted for screen over the years. Comparing the two mediums of storytelling-- i.e. books versus films-- many avid readers often complain that the books are better than their movies. Sharing her opinion about it, actor-producer-author Twinkle Khanna recently said, "Books are usually better."
It's known that Twinkle loves reading books in her free time as she frequently posts about her current reads on social media. And it seems that she recently read Sally Rooney's award-winning novel 'Normal People' and watched it TV adaptation as well.
Commenting on which format of 'Normal People' she liked the most, Twinkle said in an Instagram post, "Here is my verdict after bingeing on 'Normal People' in its dual avatars. Books are usually better. It’s the difference between a set menu and à la carte."
Elaborating it she further said, "You read a line, ‘The room was palatial,’ and your mind soars. It can visualise anything, from Grecian columns supporting a painted ceiling to the inside of the Taj Mahal. But on a screen what you end up experiencing is a narrow interpretation of ‘palatial’, which depends on the art director’s vision, the cinematographer’s skill and, unfortunately, and all too often, the budget. So keep reading!"
Encouraging people to read more, Mrs. Funnybones also shared her quirky life mantra as she added, "As Baba Twinkdev says, ‘A fool walks around with her nose in the air while the wise keep theirs firmly buried in books.’
Meanwhile, in the work front, Twinkle's short story 'Salaam Noni Appa' from her book 'The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad' will soon be adapted into a film. The story was earlier adapted into a play by Lillete Dubey.
