Lore of the land

Bangarra’s artistic director Stephen Page has curated a double bill for new dance production Lore. Choreographed by Frances Rings, She Oak explores the stories of the grandmother tree and all that has unfolded under her ancient branches, while Bangarra’s own Deborah Brown and Waangenga Blanco celebrate the tales of their Torres Strait home in I.B.I.S.

Lore play Sydney Opera House from 11 to 27 June, before touring to Canberra Theatre Centre, Merrigong Theatre Co, QPAC and Arts Centre Melbourne

Sexual politics, the politics of food and the politics of politics are just some of the topics up for discussion across the line-up of Adelaide writers week. US chef Dan Barber talks about the farm-to-table movement, authors Roxane Gay and Kooshyar Karimi cover sex and violence and former PM Julia Gillard will discuss her parliamentary experience along with 80 other authors from around the world.

Audiences will get up close and rather personal with some of the best international circus performers in Le Noir. The intimate show sees acrobats, dancers and comedians perform increasingly daring feats, while pushing the raunch factor to the max.
