Girl on tour
The girl who rhymes “oh, woe is we” with “the irony!” is taking her eagerly anticipated album Sometimes I Sit and Think on the road. Musician Courtney Barnett will play Avant Gardener, History Eraser and more of her witty tunes in almost all capital cities in May.
Courtney Barnett will play the Gov in Adelaide on 1 May, before touring to Bakery in Perth, Metro in Sydney, Hifi in Brisbane, and Forum in Melbourne.
Light and shade
Despite its bleak subject matter, the popularity of the inaugural Holocaust film series demonstrated the inspiring diversity of movies on that theme. The 35 films from Germany, the Netherlands, France, the USA and more demonstrate the courage, resilience and positivity that emerged during one of humanity’s darkest hours.

Proving yet again lawyers make the best performers, human rights and global rights campaigner Geoffrey Robertson takes to the stage for his first one-man show Dreaming too loud. Robertson promises to riff on his Julian Assange, Oz and Sex Pistols stoushes as well as his marriage to author Kathy “a serious case of subpoena envy” Lette in what promises to be an eventful evening.

Sun, sea and art
Guaranteed to spark controversy and conversation, Sculpture by the Sea returns to Cottesloe beach, WA, with works from more than 70 local and international artists. The free 18-day beachside event will feature Czech artist David Černý’s giant baby sculptures, a unique concrete work by American sculptor, Peter Lundberg and the event’s first fully submerged sculpture from artists Olivia Samec and James Moe.
