Bono's son Eli says having a famous father doesn't impact his music career

Bono's son Eli Hewson has claimed having a famous father has not impacted his music career.

The U2 rocker's son, 20, is the lead singer of his four-piece band Inhaler.

But Eli suggests his family connections have little affect on their success.

He told NME: “People our age don’t know who U2 are.

“They don’t care. I’m not dissing him or anything, but he’s had his moment.

“I say that he’s had his turn jokingly. That can’t be the headline, or I’ll get a hiding when I get home.”

And surprisingly Eli revealed that he doesn't take many tips from his world-famous father.

He added: "People always ask: do you get really good advice from your dad about music and songwriting, and the honest truth is …no!

“Yeah, they’re a really successful band, but I have completely different opinions on songwriting to him."

Inhaler have come in for some big name praise, with English music legend Elton John hailing the band as "f***ing amazing”.

The group have already played several big events including Electric Picnic in August, and stole the show at Dublin’s New Year’s Eve celebrations on Custom House Quay.
