Bono's daughter Eve Hewson hits back at cruel trolls who call her a 'spoiled brat'

Eve Hewson, daughter of Bono, has had her say on the "nepo baby" conversation as she hit back at trolls who branded her a "spoiled brat".

The 31-year-old actress made it very clear that she knows just how much her famous father has influenced her career after taking to Twitter to joke about Vulture's Nepotism Babies of Hollywood article.

The term nepotism broadly means people with power and influence giving their family members, mainly children, roles in their industry.

"Gonna get Nepo Baby tattooed on my a**," Eve wrote. She added: "Omg please can all the Nepo babies unite and dress up as giant babies for Halloween."

It seems as though some people didn't quite understand her humour and Eve has since been forced to speak out against her critics.

"For those of you who have just tuned in to my existence, I am asked about my privilege a lot.

"And I have always been very keen to state how much my father’s name helped me get a start in acting. I am beyond grateful for the opportunities I’ve had in my life.

"I chose to make a few jokes about it this round. So please don’t take my tweets too seriously. I’m just having the craic.

"And if I can’t laugh at myself.. well then I really am a privileged c**t," Eve, who starred in Behind Her Eyes, tweeted.

She added: "And to the Twitter bots and girlos calling me a spoiled brat.. please don’t forget to have a sense of humour in life.

"And try to be kind. We all need a little bit more kindness in the world. Much love xx"

Eve isn't the only showbiz offspring to weigh in on nepotism in Hollywood, with a host of celebrity children now speaking out to defend their success.

Ice Cube's son O’Shea Jackson Jr, who made his on-screen debut portraying his famous father in Straight Outta Compton, slammed the viral term.

Taking to Twitter he claimed he "auditioned for two years before getting the role" and credited his "strong work ethic" for this acting career.

O'Shea said his dad "couldn’t hold my hand through my career" and that he "had to get my a** up and make it work".

Emily in Paris star Lily Collins – daughter of drummer Phil Collins – is also among those defending her success.

"It was out of the question that people would think that I use a free pass thanks to my name," she told Vogue France.

"I’m proud of my dad, but I wanted to be me, not just his daughter. For that, I was ready to wait to break through."
