Bonnington Road closures will be in place from next week as carriageway is resurfaced

Bonnington Road closures will be introduced next week as carriageway resurfacing works are carried out.

The busy route will be off-limits between 6pm and 2am each day for two weeks while teams work on the route. The measures will be introduced on Monday (16 September).

The City of Edinburgh Council has been notifying residents of the closure by letter, and they say the noisiest operations will cease at around 11pm each night.

The route will be totally closed to through traffic but works will be done in phases to minimise the disruption.

Phase one will see the stretch from Great Junction Street to Tennant Street affected for three nights, phase two will be between Tennant Street and Anderson Place (three nights) and phase three is between Anderson Place and Broughton Road (four nights).

On-street parking will also be restricted on Bonnington Road with notices and yellow no-waiting cones in-place. Anyone who breaches this could have their vehicle removed.

The council adds that noise and disruption is unavoidable, but efforts will be made to keep this to a minimum.
