Bonkers: Liz Truss and Dizzee Rascal mash-up video goes viral

Liz Truss hasn’t commented on the video but Dizziee Rascal reacted with a wry smile and nods along to the music

A video mash-up of Liz Truss’s speeches and Dizziee Rascal’s song Bonkers, posted by @PoliticsJOE_UK on Twitter, is creating a lot of buzz online.

The video by the Irish social-media publisher racked up more than half-a-million views in a matter of hours.

Musician Swedemason collaborated on the video with Jason Spacey to make a statement about Prime Minister Liz Truss, after the pound has hit a record low following huge tax cuts made by the Government.

Just weeks after the new Prime Minister moved into Downing Street, the pound plummeted after the Government announced huge tax cuts in its mini-budget.

It then plunged again on Monday (September 26) reaching $1.04 - the lowest rate the pound has ever been against the dollar.

“From day one I’m hitting the ground. Two weeks later so is the pound,” the Prime Minister says in the edited video in tune to Dizziee Rascal’s song.

Tweets have been rolling in fast since it was posted yesterday evening (Wednesday, September 28).

One amused viewer said: “This is absolutely fantastically clever. Made me cry with laughter. But seriously....what a nightmare”

While another viewer joked: “Literally the most dynamic she’s ever sounded.”

Another viewer demanded a longer version of the mash-up. “This needs to be club ready. I hope there is a longer version.”

The one-minute clip ends with Truss saying “We will deliver for... bankers,” which grabbed quite a bit of attention.

“This is fantastic. The last line is genius,” one viewer commented.

“The ending is utterly brilliant” another account tweeted.

The social-media publisher then followed up with a TikTok of Dizziee Rascal reacting to the mash-up.

The 38-year-old rapper is visibly intrigued by the video as he smiles and nods along.

PoliticsJoe are well-known for their mash-up videos. Earlier this year, the publisher posted a similar-style video of the former Prime Minister Boris Johnson prior to losing his no-confidence vote.
