Bonhill Primary School’s library committee picked up the Scholastic National Book Club Award for their hard work promoting the book club saving scheme.
School librarian Marjorie McGregor explained how the programme works.
She said: “All children are given a savings card and can buy 50p saving stamps throughout the year to then purchase books at the annual Scholastic Book Fair.
Saving through the year not only allows children to become aware of the benefits of saving but also gives them a sizeable amount to spend at the fair.
“At the recent Book Fair in March we raised £1460 to spend on books to replenish the school and class libraries.”
