Bonhill neighbours celebrate scooping £30,000 each

Seven delighted Bonhill neighbours cashed in thanks to the Postcode Lottery at the weekend, netting £30,000 each.

The Napierston Road residents netted the cash when G83 9EP was drawn as a winner.

Now they are busy planning how to spend the money.

Great-gran Nan Berry, 82, said: “I can’t believe I’ve got 30,000 smackeroonies.

“I’m going to do some things for myself for a change. I have four sons, as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren, and I’ll want to treat them, but I know they’ll tell me to spend it on myself!”

Pat and John Brooks were just as delighted with their £30,000 cheque. Pat, 69, said: “I’m blown away! At our age this kind of money is life-changing. We had been looking at holidays but they’re so expensive this year so it’s fantastic that we can now go on holiday together.

“It’s great for the community – especially with the money that goes to local charities from playing too. I think it’s really important to give something back.”

Nicola Kane, 41, was joined by husband Steven as she was presented with her prize. She said: “I do lots of charity work and know that a lot of children’s charities are supported by playing which is why I signed up.

“We’re going to Sorrento for our 10th anniversary later in the year so we’ll be able to do it in a bit more luxury now!”

Tracy Wilson, 40, and her husband Robert will also be celebrating a decade of married life with their win.

Tracy said: “We might take a holiday or do something nice to celebrate. I’m still in shock so I’m going to have to have a think about it!”

The remaining winners will receive the cash directly into their bank accounts.

People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador Judie McCourt presented the winners with their cheques.

She said: “What a wonderful group of neighbours. I hope they all enjoy spending it!”

A minimum of 32 percent of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise more than £438million to date for good causes across Great Britain and internationally.
