Bongo's Bingo postpone all events and call out the government for not enforcing closures

Bongo's Bingo has announced it will postpone upcoming events in light of the latest briefing from the government about coronavirus yesterday.

The much-loved bingo club night planners called out the UK Government for "not having the backbone to enforce venues, bars and clubs from opening" in its announcement that all events due to take place in the next seven days would be rescheduled.

Bongo's Bingo confirmed via social media that it had made the decision because it is "the right thing to do to prevent the spread of this disease and protect our customers".

The decision, Bongo's announced, is "pending some actual definitive advice from the government", and organisers are "really sorry to all our customers and venues".

The statement went on to discuss the implications of the Government's decision to discourage social gatherings at bars, restaurants or theatres, but not ask them to close.

The Bongo's Bingo team said: "Basically with the government now advising people not to go to gatherings - but not enforcing this as law - it means there is no way of claiming any insurance for huge losses which will close down a lot of businesses.

"We also have staff, an office and bills to pay. Like any other UK company who puts on shows - or is a venue, has music, is a bar, a restaurant, cafe, club, pub and so many more - the events industry in this country is not left in this incredibly dire position by the government.

"This is by far the most difficult situation we have ever faced and it is bloody scary as hell."

Bongo's Bingo has confirmed that those with tickets to upcoming events will receive credit matching the value of postponed tickets to purchase tickets for a new date and location of their choice.
