Bongani Zungu to Rangers latest as Ibrox transfer target shunned by Amiens boss

Rangers target Bongani Zungu has been shunned by Amiens over his desire to leave the club.

Boss Luka Elsner has told the midfielder he won't play for the club again as talks continue over joining Steven Gerrard 's side.

Record Sport told last month how Zungu - a Liverpool fan - had his heart set on linking up with Gerrard at Ibrox.

The South African has not been afforded a single minute of game-time during pre-season and Elsner has no intention of bringing him in from the cold while his future remains undecided.

He said: "I have decided to restrict the squad I will work with. So only those whose head is committed to the Amiens project this season will play for me.

"We need only players who are 100 per cent committed to the club and the players who are trying to leave won't be involved.

"I want players who give everything in training and pre-season. The league starts in less than two weeks' time and I cannot afford to carry players whose futures are not clear."

Zungu, 27, has also attracted interest from clubs in Germany, but Rangers remain favourites to bring the 29-times capped star to the Premiership.
