Bongani Zungu's show of faith as Rangers midfielder buries the hatchet with South Africa boss

Bongani Zungu has buried the hatched with South Africa manager Molefi Ntseki, after the two clashed over an earlier decision to leave the Rangers midfielder out of the squad.

The on-loan Amiens man was left furious after being overlooked earlier this year, and he publicly vented his frustrations, but has now apologised to Ntseki afterwards.

Zungu was selected for a home-and-away AFCON double header with Sao Tome and Principe this month, however, and marked his return to the team with a late goal that secured a 2-0 victory on Friday.

He celebrated the goal by approaching the dugout and shaking hands with his manager - something Ntseki heralds as proof that their previous differences are water under the bridge.

Ntseki said: “I think that symbol of shaking our hands like that was out of respect for one another because when I shake hands - when I thank everybody - that is the respect I give.

“I think it was fitting for him to say thank you, and for me to say ‘thank you, you came in from the bench, you scored the goal, came in with the right attitude and had a very good game’.

“It was saying to the public out there that there's never been issues with players. They are the ones needed to make me a good coach and I'm the one needed to make them better players.

“It’s a two-way street and the respect we have for each other as South Africans is important.

“You get rewarded if the attitude is right, confidence is right and if the faith towards your teammates and technical team is right.”

Zungu made his Rangers debut in the 8-0 victory over Hamilton before the break, and will be hoping to build on his international momentum by helping Steven Gerrard 's side to a famous Premiership win.
