Bongani Zungu 'approached by Rangers' after Amiens midfielder puts clubs on transfer alert

Rangers have made an approach for Amiens midfielder Bongani Zungu, according to a report.

The defensive midfielder revealed in May he's looking to leave the recently relegated French side this summer.

And Get French Football News report Steven Gerrard has recently made enquiries to "several sources" over the 27-year-old.

Real Mallorca were linked with Zungu in January and it's said Amiens value him at around €2-3million.

The South African, who has been capped 29 times internationally, insists La Liga is his dream destination.

He told GFFN: "I almost left in January, and I think the club understands and they know that I’m looking to spread my wings, to get a new challenge, and to be honest I’m ready for that.

"But you don’t know what the future holds.

"I love the club; the president is amazing, and the fans.

"But personally I would like to move on with my career, and hopefully it happens.

"I would love to play in Spain, in La Liga. I think the league is nice, the teams play football, and yeah I would like to hopefully get a club in Spain.

"I would like to play in the Champions’ League, or maybe one day play in England. I don’t know, you never know! So play in the Champions’ League, play in England or in La Liga in one of the big teams."

Rangers have made a busy start to the summer window, agreeing deals for Ianis Hagi, Calvin Bassey and Jon McLaughlin.

They've also been linked with the likes of Kemar Roofe, Lyle Taylor, Terem Moffi and Lyndon Dykes.
