Bonfires and fireworks displays in Stockport in 2019

As the temperature drops and the nights get darker, we know it's nearly time for Bonfire Night.

Fireworks and bonfires displays are taking place across Greater Manchester to celebrate November 5 - and Stockport is no exception.

It's the night families and friends wrap up warm and head out into the cold to stand beside a massive bonfire while the sky above them lights up.

The festivities take place to remember the night when Guy Fawkes plotted to blow up Parliament in 1605.

This year the date falls on a Tuesday night, so events are taking place the weekend before to make sure everyone can attend.

Saturday, November 2

Poynton Park

The Annual Poynton Charity Bonfire and Fireworks display is back for its 47th year.

The gates will open at 5.30pm with a fairground, live band and huge bonfire.

There will be two firework displays - one at 7pm for children and one at 8pm for adults.

Adult tickets cost £7.50 and £4.50 for children. All proceeds go to local charities and groups.

Bramhall Firework Festival

The festival returns for its 4th year at the Stockport Rugby Club.

There will be two firework displays and a main stage with live music featuring Back For Good - a Take That tribute.

The gates will open at 5.30pm with adult tickets costing £8 and children's £6.
