Bonfires and fireworks displays in Manchester in 2019

The best part to autumn is that we get to celebrate Bonfire Night .

We may have to brave the cold and darkness but it's all worth it when you see Manchester's sky sparkle.

Events are taking place across the region, with some of the biggest taking place in the heart of the city.

Bonfire Night celebrations give the perfect opportunity to meet with family and friends for a fun-filled evening in front of the fire - all in the name of Guy Fawkes.

This year, November 5 falls on a Tuesday, and while there are still a lot of festivities taking place on the night, some have been organised for the weekend to make things less of a rush from leaving work.

All of the events in Manchester are free to enter, and have other entertainment on offer such as a funfair, as well as food and drink stalls.

Manchester City Council has warned that searches will be in place at all events, so they advise visitors to leave bags at home to avoid huge queues.

You won't be able to bring your own alcohol or fireworks, and drones are also not permitted.

The council also recommends people to use public transport, because parking on site is limited.

If you're a Manchester local or wanting to head closer to the centre of the region to celebrate, then here's what's taking place:
