A number of bones have been discovered on a popular Welsh beach.
South Wales Police were called on Friday after bones were found on Aberavon Beach, reports the BBC . It's not known yet whether the remains are human or an animal but they have been sent off for analysis.
This finding comes a few days after the skeletons of "at least six people" were found by archaeologists at Cwm Nash in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Initial findings suggest the group may have been the victims of shipwreck and one skeleton has been described as a "younger individual".
Experts placed those found as from the late sixteenth or early seventeenth century, living in early modern period of the Tudors and the Stuarts.
In August, the remains of 86 people were found beneath Coleg Menai’s Pencraig Campus in Llangefni, Angelsey.
The skeletons could date back about 1,600 years. This means they are just after the Romans had left Wales as they attempted to shore up the provinces in modern France from multiple barbarian invasions.
According to Dr Irene Garcia Rovira of Archaeology Wales the finds are catalogued as "early medieval". Dr Rovira, said: "The cemetery could date back from the fourth century to the eighth century. In Anglesey, the soil is every acidic, so to have this kind of preservation is very unique."
