Bone discovered on Central Coast beach, police launch investigation

Police are investigating after a bone was found on a beach on the Central Coast.

A member of the public reported the finding to Woy Woy Police Station on Thursday afternoon after discovering it on Umina beach, near Sydney Avenue, just after lunchtime.

Officers from Brisbane Water Police District set up a crime scene at the beach and the bone was taken for forensic testing.

Investigators have not yet commented on the type of bone.

Police are expected to address the media on Friday morning as their inquiries continue.
