A contest where people chose their favourite baby based on photos has ceased public votes after nasty comments about infants in previous years.
The Bonds Baby Search in Australia sees pictures of infants uploaded for the competition with the successful children winning a range of prizes.
However, daily winners will now be picked at random then two overall victors picked by a panel from the company.
A statement from Bonds, a popular clothing store, said: “In the spirit of celebration, there will be no voting this year. Instead there will be a daily winner, chosen at random, and two overall Wonderbub winners selected by us.”
The contest was also called a “celebration of love”.
As well as the change in how winners were picked there has also been an allowance made for “fur babies”, cats and dogs, to be entered.
In 2014, a woman called some babies involved “hideous” while in 2011 one was called an “ugly duckling”, according to the Herald Sun.
Honey Mums reports the change will stop some parents leaving the derogatory comments in attempts to boost their own children’s chances of success.
Prizes from birthday parties to cash sums of 40,000 Australian dollars can be won in the contest.
