Ahmed Al Ahmed, the 44-year-old man who’s been recognised as the Bondi Beach terror attack hero, has been charged with assault.
According to The Sydney Morning Herald, Ahmed has been charged months after he allegedly assaulted his father during an incident that took place on March 9 at a home in Bankstown, located in Sydney’s south-west.
“On Wednesday, 3 June 2026, a 44-year-old man was served with a Court Attendance Notice for common assault (DV) and stalk/intimidate, intending to cause fear, physical, etc. harm (domestic),” NSW Police said in a statement obtained by ABC News.
Speaking to the publication, Ahmed said, “It’s fake information … it’s not true at all.”
“I don’t have any information at all,” he continued before adding he’s focused on his health and the further operations planned on his arm following the injuries he sustained during the December 14 terrorist attack.
Per 9News, an apprehended violence order has been taken out on his father’s behalf.
The fruit shop owner, originally from Syria, was hailed a hero after footage showing him tackling and disarming one of the alleged shooters during the attack surfaced on social media.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also praised Ahmed, labelling his courageous act as “Australians coming together”.
Ahmed will appear before Bankstown Local Court on July 29.
