Bond actor George Lazenby has rejected claims he is sexist after he was criticised for claiming “women are taking over”.
The 80-year-old infuriated female stars by declaring they had “squeaky voices” and dominate television.
But Lazenby said: “Bond was once described, correctly, as a ‘sexist, misogynist dinosaur’.
"I may be a dinosaur but it would miss the point to describe me as the other words. I have huge respect and admiration for all genders.
“At a time when we have far to progress on equality, I hope I can be known as The Spy Who Loved #MeToo.”
The Aussie, who was Bond in the 1969 movie On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, had been blasted by the Women’s Equality Party for his comments.
He also said men “have no balls” and “have to ask permission to speak”.
But Lazenby insisted he was merely commenting on “changing societal attitudes”.
He added: “I was the son of a smart, strong woman who raised me with equality with an independent sister.
“As somewhat of a hippie in the 60s and 70s, I supported and cheered on the female emancipation movement.
"Of course things have changed and so they should.”
Meanwhile, Daniel Craig is set to bow out as James Bond in No Time To Die and now we finally have the first trailer for the film.
The action-packed footage shows Bond coming out of retirement in Jamaica to face a dangerous new threat in the form of new Bond villain Safin, portrayed by Oscar-winning Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek.
It would seem that Spectre leading lady Lea Seydoux plays a major role as the past of Dr Madeleine Swann comes back to haunt both her and Bond, the latter of whom feels betrayed by her.
