A DuPage County judge ordered Tuesday that a Carol Stream man be held on $1 million bond after he allegedly supplied fentanyl to a friend who died of an overdose.
Mark Vecchione, 28, faces one count of drug-induced homicide and an additional count of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance — both felonies, the DuPage County state’s attorney said. Judge George Bakalis issued an $1 million arrest warrant for him Tuesday morning while he was already in custody for prior charges.
On July 29, Hanover Park police were called to a home where a 30-year-old man was found dead, the attorney’s office said. An investigation found baggies full of suspected narcotics and Vecchione was identified as the person who allegedly supplied them.
The following day, officers arranged an undercover drug deal with Vecchione and charged him with a felony count of manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance and a felony count of possessing a controlled substance.
He is due back in court Oct. 7 for arraignment.
