It might be No Time To Die but it really is time to say goodbye to James Bond for Daniel Craig as the film franchise’s boss has ruled he won’t return.
Action star Daniel, 52, has played 007 since 2006 when he starred in Casino Royale – picking up the Bond mantle from Piers Brosnan who played the character for 11 years before him.
Now Bond boss Barbara Broccoli, 60, has signalled it really is the final mission for Daniel – but promises fans he is going out with a bang.
Speaking about the English actor’s time in the MI6 spy's shoes on the No Time To Die podcast, Babs made it sound like his series of films – Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time To Die – would have an enclosed feel for the franchise.
She said: “There’s a few lines that are in the script that Bond fans will love from the books and some wonderful locations that are described in the books.
“We consider this film to be a classic Bond film but with a modern twist.
“It’s also vitally important because it is the fifth and final one that Daniel Craig is going to be doing, so it’s a culmination of everything his portrayal of the character has been through and it ties up all the storylines.
“It’s a pretty epic film, I have to say.”
It has been a bit of a struggle to get No Time To Die to the big screen.
First of all, Daniel appeared to quit the franchise following the release of Spectre in 2015, telling reporters he would rather “slash my wrists” than play the character of Bond Again.
Evidently talked back in to the role by 2017, filming suffered disasters including director Danny Boyle quitting, Daniel being injured in a stunt gone wrong, and the set at Pinewood being partly destroyed by an accidental explosion.
While the coronavirus pandemic has forced the release date to move from April this year to November – after already being postponed from an original release date of November 2019.
The film is scheduled to finally be released on 12 November 2020 in the United Kingdom and 20 November 2020 in the United States.
