Bond 25 set could meet its toughest villain yet as Health and Safety make enquiries after 'controlled explosion' injures crew member

Bond 25 could be paid a visit by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) after an explosion left one crew member injured.

On Tuesday, a controlled explosion was carried out at Pinewood Studios, causing damage to the exterior of the 007 set. One crew member outside sustained a “minor injury”.

A tweet from the official James Bond account read: "During the filming of a controlled explosion on the set of Bond 25 today at Pinewood Studios, damage was caused to the exterior of the 007 Stage. There were no injuries on set, however one crew member outside the stage has sustained a minor injury."

The incident sparked interest from the HSE, who are “making enquiries” and deciding whether to investigate.

A spokesperson told Standard Online: “HSE is aware of the incident and making enquiries to establish whether an investigation will be carried out.”

Sources claimed to The Sun that the aftermath of the explosion earlier this week was “chaos” and that a “fireball” had emerged after the stunt went “horribly wrong”.

Bond 25 cast announced

The incident comes weeks after Bond lead Daniel Craig was forced to sit on the sidelines for two weeks after damaging ligaments in his ankle while filming a stunt in Jamaica.

Craig was flown to the US for X-Rays before it was decided he needed “minor” surgery and two weeks rehabilitation, according to The Sun.

A tweet from the official James Bond account read: "BOND 25 update: Daniel Craig will be undergoing minor ankle surgery resulting from an injury sustained during filming in Jamaica.

"Production will continue whilst Craig is rehabilitating for two weeks post-surgery.

"The film remains on track for the same release date in April 2020."

The 25th instalment of the super-spy franchise will be Craig’s last in the titular role. He will star opposite Bohemian Rhapsody star Rami Malek as the villain.
